News coverage of the La Crescent CapX resolution

Posted on | August 14, 2008 |

The La Crescent city council’s passage of a CapX2020 resolution was covered in the Rochester Post-Bulletin and the Houston County News.

The city council of La Crescent, Minnesota, recently passed a resolution in opposition to the CapX2020 powerline going through their fair city. Yesterday’s brief article in the Rochester Post-Bulletin explains that some residents are concerned not only about the route but also about the larger question of whether the CapX project should be allowed at all.

The Houston County News’ coverage is even better, covering in detail the discussion of the addendum proposed by CETF member Jeremy Chipps, which would resolve further that La Crescent opposes the CapX2020 project “UNLESS THE NEED for it is demonstrated with clear and convincing evidence”. Kudos to the Houston County News for reporting both that La Crescent does not want the powerline in their “back yard”, and also that citizens believe it should not be built at all. • About

The Citizens Energy Task Force (CETF) is a coalition of neighbors and citizens concerned about the proposed CapX2020 high voltage transmission lines in Minnesota and Wisconsin. As a legally registered "intervening party" in the CapX2020 permitting process, we represent the concerns of citizens who question the need for these particular high voltage power lines, and who support clean, sustainable, locally-generated power sources.

YOU BELIEVE citizens should have an influence on what type of energy is produced for Minnesota's and Wisconsin's energy needs and how far it travels.

ADD YOUR VOICE to the CapX public hearing in your community. Speak up and write - your opinions matter.

ADD YOUR VOICE to change the unfair eminent domain law, which exempts utilities from laws helping landowners to get a fair price in eminent domain.

WE NEED YOUR HELP to raise money, inform citizens and get the word out.

THIS IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY to have a voice in our energy future and to impact whether or not these lines will be built.
